Before anyone attempts to work on or diagnose "ANYTHING" they ;
Better know what they are doing and or have a little common sense.
Maybe have appropriate test equipment.
Maybe a knowledge of what your about to work on.
Met-Ed,
Penelec
and
Penn Power
(FirstEnergys Pennsylvania utilities)
can save energy and money with rebates on
heating and cooling solutions for their homes.
Save Now and for Years to Come
The savings start up front with rebates you can earn one of two ways:
Tune-up an existing HVAC system.
Replace a less efficient system with the latest high-efficiency HVAC technology.
The savings continue month after month with reduced energy usage and increased efficiency.
Earn Rebates on Qualified Purchases and Services
Work with a participating contractor* to receive valuable rebates on qualified energy-saving HVAC solutions:
Up to $300 on the installation of a new high-efficiency central air conditioner depending on the efficiency rating, earn a rebate of $150 to $300 and reduce your cooling costs by as much as 30 percent**
Up to $400 on the purchase of an air-to-air heat pump install an energy-efficient alternative to traditional furnaces and air conditioners to save energy all year long
Up to $217/ton on the installation of an ENERGY STAR qualified geothermal heat pump take advantage of a renewable and efficient technology for heating, cooling and often, water heating
Experienced and professional, a participating contractor can assess your current system, explain your options and perform a quality system tune-up or installation.
410A TWO SPEED UNITS running alot
My opinion if you add a hot water generator you should add an extra hot water tank to preheat the water in. Only then the thermister on the high pressure line that turns on the circulator pump should be ellimanated; this will let the circulator pump will run in first stage. Also I install a timer(fifteen minutes) between Y1 from the thermostat and Y2 on the board; this will cut down on run time.
LINE FILTERS
Sucion line drier close to the inlet of the compressor.
Liquid line drier close to the inlet of the metering device. ( TXV )
LOSS OF HEAT ( open loop )
If there is no water running thru the system ( heat exchanger frozen water maybe )
Make sure you have water pressure and all valves and solenoid valves are open.
The solenoid valve needs to go on the discharge line.
This is keep the heat exchanger coil full of water at all times.
Scaling inside the heat pump is a problem for open loop systems.
Keeping the coil full helps to combat scaling.
Make sure all filters are clean. ( should be a screen filter on your supply water line )
Turn the thermostat to cool and the temperature down so the system runs.
Let system run for a minute or maybe two and listen or see if there is water running.
If so make sure there is a good enough water flow thu the system.
WATER PIPE NOISE
Is water running through the system even when it is not running?
Solenoid Value is stuck open?
( sometimes you can take them apart and cleen the sediment out )
Make sure to turn off the water before and after the solenoid.
CLEANING FOR PERFORMANCE
Get a little sprayer and high foaming coil cleaner from your local plumbing store.
In your return duct at your air coil cut a hole as big as you can.
Make your cuts at least 3 inches from the sides and bottom.
Also slant your cuts toward the center, so when you put it back in place it sets.
Pull out filter and put rags in bottom of filter slot to catch over flow.
Have a drop light so you can see the coil real good.
Spray cleaner from side to side into fins. ( try to spray between coils running thru fins )
Rinse coil and condensate pan real good to remove all the cleaner. ( clear water in your spayer )
Sometimes you may have to clean a second time. ( rinse real good everytime )
Don't tape so you can have access later to clean again. ( check every season )
CIRCULATING PUMPS
Spray silicon in used 3-way valves on loop lines before turning.
Before you even try to turn the older plastic 3-way valves.
Spray silicon in threads of purge position after plug is taken out.
( usually under a snap in or foam cover )
DO NOT over tighten your fittings into these plastic valves, they will crack easily.
BLOWERS
If your blower stops, delay starts, needs a little help getting rolling.
Maybe smell an electrical smell thru the registers.
"Remember that capacitors hold a charge and can hurt you."
( take an insulated screw driver and short across the terminals to discharge )
Check for a capacitor on or near your blower.
This gives the motor a little help to get rolling.
You can test these with a capacitor tester.
( Or ohm across and it will charge and reverse test leads to charge opposite direction. )
But there's also usually a fan relay in the wiring.
And there will be a contact of some sort.
You might save a little time and money ( temporally ), but a high percent of the time your blower motor will be bad also.
